Knife Skills 101 – April 6th, 7 pm to 9 pm

Students will learn:

  1. How to care for a knife
  2. Basic vegetable cuts: Julienne, Dice, Brunoise
  3. Cutting Garlic
  4. Herb cutting
  5. Cutting Onions

Class Fee: $35 per person. Maximum class size: 6, minimum class size: 3.

What is included: The veggies you cut and a snack of Vegetable bruschetta.

Optional: Chef Knife and Honing Steel, additional $80 +tax

Chicken Cutting 101 – Friday, March 24th, 6 pm to 9 pm.

Students will learn:

  1. How to make stock
  2. How to cut Supremes, Bone in, and Boneless Breast
  3. How to separate Leg and Thigh, Boneless thigh, Boneless leg
  4. Trussing

Class fee: $100 per person +tax, Maximum class size: 6, minimum class size 5.

What is included: Dinner, all the chicken you cut, the stock, and the knife, if purchased.

Optional: Boning Knife purchase, additional $25 +tax

Canning Workshops – Tuesday evenings 6pm-9pm.

August 9th-October 25th

These once a week workshops will highlight what’s in season at the time, and how to preserve it for the winter ahead!

The classes will be taught by different chefs from throughout the city. Check back to see what teacher has taken on which week, and book early as space is limited! Some of our teachers are:

Susan Jessup, from the Wild Oat Cafe.
Joann Laverty, from the Red Apron.
Warren Sutherland, from The Sutherland restaurant

Cost: $100 per class, plus tax. Students will receive at least 6 jars of product/class, recipe booklet each class, light snacks during demo (provided by Piggy Market Delicatessen)

Hot stove, hot soup. Cauldron Food School presents Broccoli and Chicken soup.

Fall Flavour Soup 101 – Thursday, October 13th, 6 pm to 9 pm.

Delicious Gluten-Free Cookies Class

NEW!  Wednesday, September 7th, 2016, 6pm to 9 pm

Join the Cauldron Food School instructor, Sandra Spataro, to learn about gluten-free cookies.

Student will learn the basic of working with gluten free flour as well as key concept when making gluten free pastry. At the end of the class the student will leave with some basic cookie recipe that are easily adaptable to suit different flavor profiles.

Gingerbread Centrepiece Class

NEW!  Wednesday, December 7th, 2016, 6 pm to 9 pm.

Prepare yourself for Christmas Baking. Join the Cauldron Food School instructor, Sandra Spataro, to learn about Gingerbread Centrepieces.

On this project class student will construct a centerpiece made of gingerbread. At the end of the class the student will leave with the gingerbread cookie and royal icing recipe, as well as, with their centerpiece and templates used.

Halloween Project: Black Rose Spray

NEW!  Wednesday, October 5th, 2016, 6pm to 9 pm

BOO! Prepare yourself for some Halloween Fun! Join the Cauldron Food School instructor, Sandra Spataro, to learn about gumpaste black rose sprays.

In this project class students will learn to make a Gumpaste Black Rose spray. At the end of the class, students will leave with their creation to decorate a Halloween or gothic inspired cake.

Vegan Vendredi: Vegan Appetizers

NEW!  Friday, October 28th, 2016, 6pm to 9 pm

We are proud to introduce our first “Vegan Vendredi” cooking class, hosted by Azura Fennell, Owner and Chef of The Kneaded Kitchen Inc.

Learn the art of creating delicious vegan appetizers that will impress all of your guests, vegan or otherwise! Azura will teach you how to make three appetizers including her Quinoa Stuffed Mushrooms, Cranberry “Meatball” Pockets and a delicious Tomato Basil Tart, perfect for any special occasion and holiday celebration.

Enjoy an exciting evening with friends, delicious food, and of course… eating!
