The Cauldron Kitchen is proud to host Gongfu Bao Cart Pop-Up Deli, Fridays, 4 pm to 8 pm.
Gongfu has taken Ottawa by storm with their unique take on Chinese street food. One of the original street food vendors in the City of Ottawa’s street food vendor program, Gongfu began with a bang of steam on Elgin Street in front of Confederation Park in 2014. Since then, Gongfu refined its product, jumped through hundreds of hoops, and now dedicates the weekend to Ottawa’s Farmers Markets in Westboro and Lansdowne Park.
Now Gongfu is opening up a Pop-Up Deli in The Cauldron Kitchen. “This is a great opportunity to experiment with brick and mortar processes,” explains Tarek Hassan, Gongfu founder. Mr. Hassan, though, is no stranger to The Cauldron Kitchen. Gongfu rented kitchen time several times for big catering jobs. The Cauldron was a wonderful fit for the job and Gongfu staff really enjoyed using the kitchen.
Now, this enterprise will take over the kitchen on Friday evenings for the next several weeks to prepare for the weekend service at the Markets. In the meantime, the general public is invited to visit The Cauldron Kitchen and take home delicious steam buns, filled with goodness. Or as some customers put it:”bao’s are like warm hugs in your mouth.”
So come over to 1155 Lola Street, Unit 7. We are near the baseball stadium off of Coventry Road. Bring your appetite and take home some delicious Gongfu Bao!
Gongfu Bao Pop-Up Deli is open from 4 pm to 8 pm, every Friday in October.
